Entry 2, Marking Period 1
http://www.aballerinastale.com
I am really looking forward to seeing this documentary about ABT's first black principal dancer, Misty Copeland. I read her memoir this summer and it was very inspirational and emotional. I saw her perform the role of Clara in ABT's version of the Nutcracker at BAM last winter and she is breathtaking. I grew up doing ballet 4-5 times per week and loved it so much. As I've gotten older my interests have shifted towards contemporary dance, but ballet will always be my first dance love. I am inspired by her drive and dedication to her art form. There were many sentences that I related to in her book especially when she described that moving and dancing just makes her feel whole. I encourage anyone to watch the videos under the video link on the website.
